Aptly named HideAway Cafe is this little gem of a caff with a little story to tell.

Tucked away in the original Lane (the first one to be created when this area was the fishermen's quarter 200 years ago) the HideAeway operated for 18 years as Peter's Cafe, named after that sadly departed frying pan-wielding character, whose life-size photo also used to grace the Media Centre around the corner.

It was in the early days a kitchen that served the adjoining gambling den, at the rear of the premises, once frequented by local villains. This slowly changed and began serving to the genral public and now modernised by his son, Simon, it has been established 23 years.

Simon's aim was broaden the customer base and the name 'Hideaway Café' seemed a creative and fun way to start because it is hard to find.
